"Waiting for The Dough to Rise"

A phrase I never thought would have any meaning in my world! However, I said it! The weekend was a quiet one and out of nowhere I decided to make homemade cinnamon rolls! This is the first time in 62 years I have ever even given it a thought. Cooking, baking, etc have all been off my radar for years. I wasn't good at it, I didn't enjoy it and just found it all in all annoying that anyone should think that was something I should do.  My mother has always made it look so effortless and her results were awesome, that when that didn't happen for me I just assumed that when they passed out "baking" I got "shopping".
This summer on our trip to Savannah I discovered Paula Deen and although she is way to Southern for me and way to many "Ya'll"s, I can follow her directions! I love her cookbook and everything in it. This was a team effort, Hubby and Me, the results were Best Ever! It also helps to have a new shiney yellow Kitchenaide mixer

First Time Out!

We have fullfilled a big dream of ours ~ new travel trailer. We took it out this weekend and it is all we had hoped! We did pick a campground with all the amenities ( they delivered pizza)! We are looking forward to many weekends and vacations for now and then hit the retirement road!!

Grandchildren

One Year

It works! This year as I was enjoying a lovely, relaxing day at the lake, I thought what did we do last year on Labor Day?!? I later thought I had started this blog last year before we went on vacation in Sept, so I went back and there was Labor Day 2009! It was a good one as was this year. I will put it here so next year when I can't remember hopfully I will know where to look.

Jacob and Jeffrey spent the night while Seth and Angie went on to Little Rock for a wedding, We enjoyed them so much and they enjoyed Fun Acre!
We spent Labor Day on Table Rock Lake. It was such a beautiful weekend, I wonder how I could forget it!

The "Islands"

I am not a fan of beaches, as most know, but I love to look at them from a distance! So since we were going to be so close to the ocean we thought we would stay one night on St Simons Island. I have enjoyed the Eugenia Price books which are about life there. But as I looked and planned for the trip it seemed the best option was Jekyll Island to the south. Turns out it was the best choice and would have loved to stayed another day! You can have your car on the island but then most people ride bikes. Some of our best meals where there and it was the most relaxing.
This is the Beachview Club a great place to stay and close to the beach. A wedding was under way right outside our door. There were the most beautiful oak trees, old and bent by the wind
St Simons was very commercial and being the bigger island the most crowded. But this is what we did while on St Simons. Eat and take pictures of the Lighthouse
Tybee Island was the last. And again all we did was eat and take pictures of the Lighthouse! Buss did climb the lighthouse all 178 steps up! I waited in the truck!

Savannah

We have been here for 2 days, walked a lot, eaten a lot and having a wonderful time. I have taken a lot of pictures but mostly landscapes and houses! We stopped at St Simons Island on the way here and tomorrow we are going to Tybee Island. Went to Paula Deens yesterday ~ she wasn't there! Did see Forrest Gump though!

6 States in 1 Day

So no time for pictures! But we are in Macon GA! Tomorrow we will going to St Simons Island and Jekyll Island.
It was a good trip and we did decide we are going home on a more Nothern Route to avoid Atlanta and all parts therein!  When we checked in tonight there was a family in the lobby wearing  Mizzou shirts! That was an "OK Where am I moment". Should have beach photos for tomorrow.
